The adoption process raises many complicated legal issues, which our experienced team will assist you with.

A child can be adopted by a single person or a couple. They may be unrelated, or be step-parents or relatives of the parents. Whatever the situation, our team can advise on all adoption matters, including:

  • post-adoption issues such as contact following adoption

Amanda Williams

Amanda qualified as a solicitor in 2005 joining Harland & Co in March 2020.  She is a member of Resolution and has specialist expertise in private and public law children matters.

 

Amanda provides professional, constructive advice and support to clients at a time of need.  She maintains a friendly and firm approach with the aim to achieve the most positive result for her clients and their families.

Sally Lees
Since qualifying as a Solicitor in 2007, Sally has specialised in family law, primarily in Care Proceedings helping parents where the Local Authority is involved with their family. Sally assists at all levels of Local Authority involvement, advising from the early stages such as Child in Need and Child Protection through to PLO and Court proceedings when the Local Authority seeks to remove children from their parents' care.  Sally takes pride in guiding and supporting her clients through what is an extremely difficult time whilst providing professional and constructive advice to ensure the best possible outcome.   More about Sally Lees
Nick Middleton

Solicitor

Nick qualified as a solicitor and joined Harland & Co in 2016 having spent 6 years as a legal caseworker dealing with a wide range of family law matters, with a focus on children law proceedings (both private & public) and domestic violence. An experienced care practitioner in care proceedings at all court levels, Nick has dealt with complex cases involving children as witnesses, detailed medical evidence and all aspects of matrimonial and children law. He is an accredited member of the Law Society Children Panel since 2018. Nick is based in our family team and takes a compassionate and pragmatic approach to what are often highly sensitive and emotive matters for clients. More about Nick Middleton
